Just curious has anyone done a 6 speed manual box swap from the automatic. Can it be done? beyond pedal box, hydraulics, flywheel, pilot bearing, box, shifter, console trim, ECU swap?? Would any driveshatft changes be needed. Is the 6 speed box any good? is this stuff all unobtanium?
Curious,
Brian C.

The 6speed will need an entire new rear end because of the difference in gear ratios to the differentials.. very costly.. however i wonder if there are any 5speeds available to use

If so, the final drive is the same.

F.i. my rear diff is EUU, which is shared with DGV 6 speed manual.
It will be a lot of work though...
And FWIW, the manual box wasn't rated very high by the test magz. They preferred the Tip.

Well, there were some 5-speed boxes for the 2.8 V6, but I don't think those boxes will be capable of handling the V8 power for very long...

that is if you can drive it properly. I see no reason why you cant use a 01A manual from a 2.8. Those were used in some A8's iirc. Our final is 3.89 iirc. 01E 6spd is 4.11 and so is the 01A from the earlier I5 used in the coupe quattro 90-91
