Same issue with my S8, 1998.
Thanks to the initial post here (from 2003!) I found ideas for DIY repair.

Funny callback! My '97 was leaking in that spot in 2009. Thanks to Paul's helpful post I used the epoxy fix-- and it's still holding to this day.
