(Reply to JimR) After 11 Days at the local Audi Dealer, I finally took delivery of my A8 with the new transmission. The old transmission had a little over 29K, however there was a strange noise emitting from the vehicle and after visiting the service center 6 times for the elusive sound they opted to change the transmission. This is after the Fluid and Filter was replaced twice. THe noise is gone, shifts smoothly and no leaks noted. Runs just like when I first purchased this car 2 years ago. Thanks to Skiracer and PaulW for all of their help and suggestions.

Being able to start with a brand new tranny, and armed with the collective findings of the members of this forum, you should be able to keep your tranny at 100% for as long as you care to keep your car! At least you got a working vehicle that you are happy with for all of the aggravation and inconveniences you went through.
