had my mec check it out, I left the car with him overnight and we parked it outside of his shop. It's starting to get cold at night and this is when the problem began (since I just bought a new house and haven't yet been able to park my car in my garage since it's filled with junk for a few more days.
He started it and observed the same problem. He changed the oil (it was due) and added Seafoam. I've never heard of the stuff but he assured me that it works to free sticky lifters. Sure enough it worked. I've started it two consecutive cold mornings and no noise from the sticky lifters is heard. I could have waited until I can park my car in my (heated) garage, but I couldn't stand the fact that even in could weather my car would do this.
Thanks for the suggestions.

to really work w/o doing any harm. I'm sure like most flushes there have been exceptions but haven't heard any firsthand.
