Default Update on stolen A8. (Good News)

About 3 hours after I got done talking with the police, the car was found at a local restaurant with the idiots inside trying to use one of the stolen credit cards to pay their bill. The police arrived and arrested a guy and a girl. They had transferred all of my stuff into another car. My car does not have a scratch on it. It was very creepy to have to readjust my seat when I picked it up. I had to pay a $360 towing bill. Isn't there any way to take these people to court to recover my losses?

Default That's fantastic! You should be able to recover the cost of the tow

in small claims court, but it may not be worth the hassle. You said you go to the same gym, right? It would sure be unfortunate if they came out to their car late one night and it had been smashed in with a baseball bat. 8^)

Default Insurance should cover the cost of the tow, since it's cheaper for them to pay it

than to have paid for a stolen car. If your agent won't work with you on it, change companies.

Default They just quoted my deductible. Anything under is my responsibility.

I have USAA and it's very cheap.

Default I have State Farm.

I think my guy would:

A. Pay anything over the deductible.

B. As a seperate instance, cover the towing up to the maximum allowed.

I would prolly be out about 25 - 30 tops.

($360 - $250 deductable = $110 - $85 tow = $25.00)

Default I don't think they'll be coming back to that gym.

The manager at the YMCA is very serious about the situation. They are installing security cameras and he is very eager to get the names of people who did it so that they will never set foot in that place again.

Default Re: What City?

As for your insurance company, it's less than your deductible so it's your responsibility. I would be just so greatful you got the car back without a scratch. Maybe ask the YMCA and they will cover it as it would be an embarrassment to the place.

Did the police ask you to press charges or did they arrest the people? What city do you live in again? I can't imagine people are that stupid? That is going to be one expensive A8 test drive for two people going to jail and having a criminal record. Were they on drugs or homeless people or kids or what kind of people would steal your car and go to a restaurant with your credit card?

Congrats! It's all good news. I was confident you would find the car as it's pretty stupid to steal your keys from a locker and think you can get away.

Default I'm a State Farm agent. You are 100% correct Scot!

Good news the car was recovered undamaged and the douchebags who stole it apprehended.

Default Phew, thank goodness. Happy to hear it. How many miles did they put on it?

For piece of mind, I think I would do a tranny service and oil change, heh.
