Used S8 with 80 miles
The Exchange in Highland Park has a Silver/Black S8 in the showroom. Appears to have all options except solar sunroof, phone and upgraded interior. Asking $99,900. Any Comments?

Re: Used S8 with 80 miles
That is way, way too much money for an S8. I have seen it for alot less in Colorado it was just over the MSRP. I have a 98 A8. I would love to have to get my hands on an S8 but they are not worth it becasuse the 2003 A8 W12 will be here before you know it. Audi really messes up when it comes to S-cars. The S4 is here as well as the S8 both of which will be bested by better versios in less that 2 years. The RS4 with 380 horses beats the S4 by a long shot and the all new A8 with a 450 horse power W12 will leave the S8 behind every time. In my oppnion I would sit tight for a year and wait for the w12

Re: Used S8 with 80 miles
I've seen several in NJ for list. Besides as nice as it may be it's not really all that fast, certainly not $99k fast. The W8 may be fast but V E R Y risky at this point.

Re: Used S8 with 80 miles
Audi has plans for a new and more complete RS line of cars buildt by Quattro Gmbh. They are ment to beat both Audi's own S-line, and give the tuning companies some serious competition.
Rumours in the "informed press" have been out for a while regarding RS6 (V8 biturbo, 450 HP +) and RS8, (V8 biturbo, 500 HP).
Regarding the W12, even though it is the new top of the line it is not a real competitor to the S8. It will only be available in the long-wheelbase version, with air-ride suspension and 500 pounds more weight than the S8. The 420 HP versus the 360 HP will not help the W12 in the corners, the S8 will handle much sharper under pressure. The S8 is the ultimate sports sedan, the W12 is the limmo battleship.
And, when the new A8/S8 comes along sometime in 2003, there will probably be a S8 with more than 420 HP in a V8 version anyway, supercharged or turbocharged probably.
Until then, MTM gives you 470 HP in the S8 for about $23K. Look for your nearest dealer!

Re: You sure about that price? Saw an S8 at dealer on Saturday w/sticker @$78k+...
Positive. There were two of us in the showroom and our jaws dropped together. It's a game some dealers play with high end cars. It's why the back of AutoWeek is filled with new,hard-to-find cars with extremely low miles at inflated prices from dealers.( 911Turbos at $150K, Z8's at $180K and M5's at $85K) I think it might be a way of getting around manufacturer rules about what can be charged over list for a new car. If it's a used car, no one cares. By the way, exactly the same car with no miles is available 65 miles away in Milwaukee for MSRP. Strange, isn't it?
