Default VAG-COM help

Since I've recently had a startup problem, I went ahead and bought a $20 VAG-COM interface from eBay (instead of the $250-$350 interface + software package from Ross-Tech). Downloaded the ver 409.1 from Ross-Tech. Got it to interface and scan to some extend.

From what I read, I purchase/register the full version ($99) to access many other features... particularly the AutoScan. Yesterday was my first time trying to scan and it would stop after the "03 Auto HVAC module" due to the lack of full version. I thought I got around and scan from addresses 01 to 7F. Here's what I got:

Address 01: Engine

These are not the PXXXX faulty code that everyone reference from the DTC. Thus, I can't check any faulty code to see if my fuel pump or the fuel pump relay is causing my startup problem. My last post --> https://forums.audiworld.com/a8/threads/27181.phtml#149943

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated! I really want to confirm if I need to spend that extra $99. Thanks!

Default Sounds like you could have a fuel pump going South

When you have this problem, you need to crack the fuel fitting at the fuel rail and see if you have pressure.

If you don't, it's either the fuel pump relay (doubtful) or the fuel pump. A lot of times they die a slow death as you mention.

Default Thank you for your insight... I hope that's right on...

...checked the fuel line and no gas coming out... I thought it's fuel pump well, ordered one from junk yard, should get it this week.

Is there such thing as "fuel strain" built-in to the fuel pump or inline with the entire fuel pump assembly? My mechanic suggested me to get that fresh if I'm getting the fuel pump assembly used (from a 62K miles 97 A8Q)... but I couldn't find such "fuel strain" for the A8Q unlike in many Japanese & American cars.

Anyone thoughts?

Default There is a fuel filter under the car near the rear RH wheel well

If you don't have the Bently manual, YOU NEED TO GET IT for this procedure. I've never done it, but it's pretty tricky.
