Isn't the new A8 not a coach built car? This might help the depreciation on the "old style" 8's when the new body style is out.

Absolutely !!

Where else can you safely explore the potential of this outstanding car?<ul><li><a href="http://www.audipages.com/on_track.html">S8 at Mid-Ohio</a></li></ul>

Default hmmm. most buyers will never realize this. I've seen some relatively low mile 2000s at

a very attractive price. That will certainly go down some more in a few months once the new a8 is available here.

Check out this car... '97 10k miles at about $US16k. At first I thought the milage was missing a zero but it is repeated in the description too.<ul><li><a href="http://www.trader.ca/AutoBella/Default.asp?Trader=1&amp;CAT=1&amp;adid=2539179&am p;dContact=499664&amp;VLot=/AutoBella&amp;ADS=2539179%7C&amp;SRVlot=1&amp;SRsl ts=1&amp;q1=%3D+1&amp;c1=%40category&amp;q3=%3D+68 5&amp;c3=%40makeid&amp;q

Kinda figured that! I do have to agree that's it's exasperating to follow a 2002 S8 out of the neighborhood at 27 MPH!

It is impossible to predict the value of the classic A8 vs the new A8. I owned a 93 Sabb that appreciated in value when the "new" 94 900 was introduced. The value of an old style 67 vett is double that of the then new model 68. I purchased a 03 A8L because I like the classic look when compared to the A6 on steroids new offering.
We can't judge market reaction we can only experience it.

Default Is the Classic 740iL vs the new Nissan looking rear-end model

causing any of the "reverse" notions of residual value you are contemplating with our "classic" A8 body style?

There was a 99 that sold quick with 31K mi near me for about $25K. But the best is a 2001 with 30K mi for $34995 "negiotable". I say, "hang on!" but I just saw a piece on how leases are out now, so in a year or two all these great bank subsidized deals may dry up!

An excellent point. Another value factor for the "classic" A8 is low sales volume or fewer available vehicles. The current Car and Driver Buyers guide prefaces their description of the current 2003 A8L as the most attractive design in the luxury market.
