20-21mpg and I usually hit 100mph daily in the S8

my calculated mpg differs from computer-calculated mpg. i'm also doing ~50/50 highway/local driving. i've been averaging ~20 mpg according to my calculations (i.e., ((miles driven) / (gallons filled)). i fill up ~22 gallons after ~430-440 miles driven. computer indicates an average of ~22 mpg at ~36 mph. that's a difference of ~2 mpg or 10%.

the specs (at least for a 2000 a8l) notes 17 mpg local, 24 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined, so i guess i'm within range.

some folks have mentioned the computer being somewhat "optimistic" in its calculations.

Damn! It is better then Ford Explorer I had before (sucker had almost same displacement and almost twice as less horses). It is also almost the same as my 87 Audi 5000 (KZ engine, auto). But a last one was killer on gas just because of a 3 spd. automatic transmission.
Overall, I'm very pleased with fuel consumption on my A8.

calculate it yourself the old-fashioned way. The computer is notoriously inaccurate.
