I have had a vibration that's been ******* me for over a year and finally fixed it. It was one of the rear wheel bearings...
No noise and no play with the wheel on the car. I finally went with my gut instinct, pulled off the caliper, rotor and axle and sure enough there was wobble when spinning the hub. So, if you have a persistent vibration and have run out of options remember this post. I had two good Audi techs look for the problem and none of them picked up on it either. It just didn't have the classic wheel bearing failure symptoms.
I used a "Hub Tamer" to remove the old bearing and install the new one. The bearings on the facelift cars are a little different than the pre 2k ones but same concept of pressing the bearing into the hub. The hub on the facelift cars actually bolts back in place.
I took some pics but didn't follow the Bentley (not much help since it's all Audi tools and they remove a lot more than needed) or Hub tamer directions about 1/2 way through.
I think if I did another one, I could write a procedure. It's actually not too bad - probably a 2.5 hour job.

I think that was more of a factor as opposed to just mileage. I'll let some other people weigh in...
