Default Water pump. Could someone provide me with the most comprehensive link to

the timing belt/water pump replacement procedure. Any sorces for OEM pumps or opinions on "better than" OEM? I assume timing belt might as well be done?-97 A8 50,000 miles. Thanks.

Default PaulW and I have an incomplete procedure that hasn't been posted yet.

We can send you what we have so far, however. As far as "better" than OEM water pump, I'm not aware of any available. Check at some of the on-line parts places to gat a better price on these parts than at the dealer- almost all can be bought from aftermarket suppliers, but not all. And since you are already in there replacing the WP, I would also do the TB and the tensioning/idler pulleys. Do thermostat, serpentine belt, and TB damper at the same time. You won't have to go back in for a LONG time!!

I would very much appreciate any partial procedure or suggestions you have. Please e-mail or direct to source when you have time. Autohauz in Arizona is quoting a Graf pump as a replacement. I bought a "lifetime" Bosch pump for another car, but have found no application for the A8. I'm a little concerned about this timing belt deal considering the consequences of a mistake. Thanks
