weird noise

i was coming from work in manhattan, and i picked up my girlfriend in hoboken and went back to staten island and when i parked the car there was a weird,loud noise coming from the rear tires, can anyone tell me what that is?
also how do i fix the nav so when i start the car and turn on the nav it always says 50yd instead of 400 yd?

The weird noise is

the rear brakes self-adjusting themselves. Normal, and they do this occasionally.

Don't know about the nav system.

Ditto on randys response concerening the noise. Do you want to change perspectives

on the MMI to bring it in closer on start up?

Salesmen should warn people about that noise.

I about had heart failure when I thought I had a circular saw loose in my trunk the first time it happened.

As for the Nav, mine always defaults to 200, I believe.
