Default weird trans problem.... (really long)

I cant seem to put the car in D on a consistant basis. Sometimes it will go in sometimes it wont. Feels like something is physically blocking the shifter.

To add to the problem sometimes when it will go into drive I can not select 4,3,2 by moving the lever down. (sometimes) sometimes I can.
When i can not i must put the car into P and then move the lever down to 4,3,2. It works fine.

No ryme or reason, not on a hill, not warm vs. cold, not anyhting else i can correlate.

I am a little hesitant to bring it back to the shop that it was at because, it happened after they did the trans service. After i brought it back they kept it for two days, then tried to charge me $80 for looking at it. when i asked them what was wrong they said they did not know and that they messed with the shifter cable and now it was fixed. So two days later same deal. I call them back to inquirer what was really wrong and the manager said that when they unhooked the cable the shifter mechanism in the trans was still stuck and not moving. When they freed it up it worked fine so they put the pan back on and gave it back to me. (when i ask them if they have any ideas they just say "weird" and say i can bring it in, sounds expensive.

Any ideas, did something break and is blocking something inside the trans? I think that it has something to do with that button on the side of the gear selector but it works fine for P, R, N.
I have no idea, also no know codesm and what not.

Default "it happened after they did the trans service"

If you were one of my customers they would be ALL over me to get this problem resolved and I would most certainly bend over backwards to correct the problem no matter who is responsible...

You need to take it back and calmly demand an explaination.

The customer is always right, just the way I do business

2nd, sounds like a low fluid level. getting it full is tricky if you dont know what you are doing.

Default Re: weird trans problem.... (really long)

did u ever figure out what the real reason for sticking of the shifter was? Mine has a hard time going from P to R to D...it didnt wanna budge!!! I was using all my muscle power and any more would have broken the darn little thing...
