come on, so when I got home I checked it out and I was getting the "Main Catalyst; Bank 2: Efficiency Below Threshold P0432" error. I saved the codes, cleared it and it hasn't come back on yet. However, now I am hearing this rattling noise when I rev the engine and it sounds like it is coming from the exhaust system. My theory is the cat blew and the crud inside is now tumbling around when I rev due to the higher exhaust pressure. Has anyone ever experienced this before? What type of warrenty is on the catalytic converters? Same as vehicle? Damn!
Oh, and Happy Easter for those who celebrate this day!

...but got a used pair with 100K + from someone on-line, and the emmisions test couldn't be better.
Funny how a 12 y/o pair of used Cats can still perform perfectly fine. The brand new aftermarkets put out high HC at 2500, and failed at 4 times the limit at idle. Swapped them out with old ones and fixed the problem. And worse was the wasted money -- The aftermarkets costed me 600 ea by the time I got thru paying someone to weld pipes onto them to get them to line up like the original. I think I paid $100 for a pair of used ones.
Try that route... there must be some avialble Cats in the junkyards -- oh sorry, I mean used auto parts stores. ;-)

They said it had exterior damage which would have caused the failure...not covered. I believe they wanted close to $1k to replace it. I went to a local muffler shop and had it replaced for around $350.
By the way, the guy at the muffler shop said that the failure due to exterior claim from the dealer was BS. Did I mention how much I hate my local dealership?
