Well now I went and did it...
I finally got around to installing my new serpentine belt and I managed to break stuff.

The procedure in the Bentley tells me to turn one way, Audipages (the correct procedure BTW) says another. Anyway, I managed to take the tension off enough to remove the old belt and put on the new one. But, when installing the new belt, I broke the tensioner bolt!

Now the belt is as loose as a goose so I'm assuming a new tensioner assembly is in my near future (duh). Is there any way to adjust the tension for now (like the nut where the damper connects)? Is it called a "tensioner assembly"? Thanks in advance!

That's what I was thinking.
I know it should not have any effect on the tension (though it will be good times taking the belt off again without the nut). I routed it properly, I compared the sizes of the belts, and still a bit loose!

Yeah I remember that pic...
I tried pushing on the tensioner but still no luck. I started the car and I can see/hear the belt flapping between the power steering pump and the lower roller.

Hmmm....
That's how the belt is routed, I'll check the big bolt. It just seems when I was trying to release the tension, the whole thing barely moved. Like it's frozen in that position or something.

This might help
The belt isn't suppose to be around the bottom of the engine.
