The '02 and '03 have a different radio than the '01, the '03 has steering wheel audio controls, was only available in three exclusive exterior/interior color combos, has different wheels, and the nav antenna was moved to the roof. There may be additional differences but these are the only ones I'm familiar with.

2001 S8

Exterior colors:
-Racing Green pearl
-Melange metallic
-Andorra Red pearl
-Cashmere Gray pearl
-Brilliant Black
-Ming Blue pearl
-Light Silver metallic
-Ebony pearl

Option Packages:
-Premium package (ski/storage sack, pwr sunshade for rear and manual rear side window sunshades);
-Guidance package (GPS/Navigation, and Parktronic in front and rear);
-Premium Leather and Alcantara package (leather on more dash and console areas; Alcantara on headliner and hatshelf and on center of seats, but only on the standard sport seats; this package was not available if the "comfort" seats were ordered);

Separate Options:
-Solar Sunroof (note that the 2001 brochure shows that this option was not available on the S8, but it actually was);
-Motorola hands free cellular phone (analog phone);
-"Comfort" seats (note that the 2001 brochure does not list this option, but many 2001 S8's came with it; they are the same as the seats in the '97-'99 A8's);
-some '01 S8's were special ordered in Pearl White color, at extra cost;


2002 S8

Exterior colors:
-Irish Green pearl
-Alpaka Beige metallic
-Pearl White pearlescent

-sport shift mode, and shifter plate that looks a little different than the '01 version;
-6-disc in-dash CD radio (rather than the trunk mounted CD changer that was in the '01 S8's);
-early '02 S8's had the same three-spoke sport steering wheel as in '01 S8's, but later '02 S8's had the four-spoke multi-function steering wheels;
-early '02 S8's had the same GPS antenna on the trunk (a small square box) as on '01 S8's, but later '02 S8's had the GPS antenna on the back of the roof, and it was a different shape, more like the later model Audi's;


2003 S8

Exterior colors:
-Brilliant Black (came only with Caramel leather)
-Ming Blue pearl (came only with Platinum leather, although its much lighter than the prior years' platinum color; Also, the 2003 brochure incorrectly lists "Gray polished Birdseye Maple" trim for this color package; In actuality, all 2003 Ming Blue S8's came with the "Amber polished Sycamore" wood trim);
-Avus Silver metallic (its a bluish silver; and it came only with Classic Red leather; which looks almost maroon);

Options:
-digital cell phone;
-solar sunroof

Changes from '02:
-Alcantara package no longer available;
-interior colors were matched to specific exterior colors; you no longer had a choice;
-all '03 S8's had the four-spoke multi-function steering wheel and the GPS antenna on the roof (both of these the same as on late '02 S8's);
-the '03 S8 wheels were a 9-spoke RS4 style wheel, which replaced the prior Avus style wheels.


I think I've listed everything, but I may have forgotten a few things. Those who know more than me can feel free to chime in here.

That one is PERFECT except the price... 30k would be AWEOSME, but $35k is more what im looking for (same miles)

for 35$k you have to sacrifice somewhere.... either wear and tear or milage...
