Although it was preceded by my first car - 1974 Belair Station Wagon, former police car 400ci with a 4 barrel carb - were it not for the engine that one would have been the worst

No, I knew I was getting a steal on the car! It was a three year old car and was not like showing up in a 77 TA with the bird.
I think its fair to say, we all love V8s. I would not have touched the car if it were a V6. I had to sell the damn things cause the girls I date dont like guys in Camaros. The 16V Jetta was more condusive to the preppy college look.
Fun car but not the image I was looking to project. I am definately the Euro image....

It's not even a contest for first, the word Pinto says enough. The Plymouth Volare was cousin to the Dodge Aspen and these cars were known to rust by year four. A friend had a Datsun 710 we used to call the Ralley car. It made number three because the name made it sound like a rust bucket. The Mercury Monarch and it's Ford Granada twin were about as ugly as the Volare but pulled rank over the failing near bankrupt Chrysler products.
Honorable mention goes to the 81 T1000 and 86 AMC Spirit. Had these been a 76 Chevette or a 76 Pacer, you may have placed. Your cars at least had rust proofing.
As for the Corvair, Packards, and 55 Windsor, these would qualify as classics that you wish you still owned. Therefore these do not qualify as being embarrasing cars to own.
OK, so now we all feel good about our A8s.... Back to work to pay for our expensive toys and repairs.....

....often referred to as "The Mav". Bought it in 1984 for $200 and towed it home. I proboably spent 6-7,000 dollars on it fixing it up so I could drive it without wearing a disguise and go 0-60 in the 6 second range.
