Default Where to buy 18" RS-6 style wheels...so many sellers!

I had these wheels on my last A8 and loved them. I thought they really set the car off. I would like to get a set for my current A8L but there are so many vendors, I don't know who to trust. I don't want to use hub adaptors if I can help it. An ebay seller claims to sell wheels made by the original manufacturer for Audi but all identification is removed so the call them "RS-6 Style" wheels. The salesman said if they are for an Audi application they will fit WITHOUT adaptors (no actual verification...just "if"). And they will come with Audi center caps and chrome lug bolts. All this for just over $600 (skeptical) I have heard of some people having luck with aftermarket wheels using the hub adaptors...but I'm not one of them. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated. Thank You.

Default Great wheel choice but...

IMHO I would pay the extra and get oem maybe ebay if you find what you need when you need it. Or, check AW classified or Audifans.
I would also consider the BBS design of your choice. Forged wheels, if you care to go to the next level, generally look very good but cost more dough yet.
You will pay more but will have a great looking strong wheel that will hold up very well over time and be EASILY replaceable should it break.
I was sucked into the world of wheels about two years ago first ordering knock off rs6's from I forget where. Looked good but wrong offset.. forghettabout it. Next up were Taiwanese forged wheels.. had to be made custom for some reason. This custom design included a valve stem located behind the spokes. uh uh behind.
No thanks. What are you kidding?

I have also had knock off rs2 wheels that have easily bent and just don't seem smooth as an oem or bbs. These are now sporting Blizzacks.
Choose carefully because in order to amortize these sharp new wheels means you will be looking at them for quite some time. This is okay though because IME wheels are a great way to update the car's look. Wheels also need to be able to take a lot of stress and are not a wise place to try and save dough.
Voila!

Default Re: I appreciate your words of wisdom.....

I've also considered the later D3 A8 wheels, the kind with lots of spokes. They just look classy and high tech I think. There is a set of factory wheels of this type in the adds section for what I feel is a reasonable price. I'll do some thinking. In the meantime I hope others decide to chime in and share their experiences. Thank You Airbil...

Non OEM wheels may not give you brake clearance - try before you buy

Default Re: Ashleey...are those OEM or aftermarket wheels on your car?

And are you happy with them? Any issues to report, or any things you had to fix or correct to make everything right? Thank You...
