Default Correct, there is no manual for "guided fault finding" on the D3, it's part of the scan tool now

Default Ummmm.....

as I recall, he needed my dual CAN ross-tech cable just to properly reset the rear brakes when doing a brake job.

Default No money in car sales, Service makes the $$$$

Since there is small money in car sales, the service department has to make the profits. The car needs to be sufficiently complicated to ensure people return to the dealer for the quickest service. This is why any dealer service department has a room full of "special tools" The public constantly demands new features like adaptive cruise control, doors that close themselves and electronics packages.

Default Yes. He did an engine overhaul on an 05' A8 recently.

Exotic motors send a lot of cars to him for repair.

Default nonono Silly Jeffries - Doug's blk / carmel "D3" as you say is an "OH-3", not "D". D3...

...is '04 and up and is new generation. Doug's is the last of the D2s, one of the ~100 or so uber '03s.

I say do it. Therein, you'll just say Stromung. And there was much rejoicing - yay.
