Default Wiered. Bulb warning light changes to brake light and NO ESP ABS when headlights turned on

This is wiered. I get a light warning light everytime I touch my brakes. It then goes out immediately. BUT if I turn on my headlights I get a Brake warning light and AS well as ABS and ESP lights.

If I check my lights it turns out that when I hit my brakes on the passenger side it has not lit the front indicator, or the rear tiny side light.

any suggestions please

You have a short in the tail light assembly. The bulb sends feedback to the other circuit.

Default Yes, some kind of ground path

There are ground posts in the back corners of the trunk, you have to remove the covers to get to them...I would check the connections there.

Thanks for the info. A quick question though. As the front indicator light doesnt turn on when I brake when teh headlight is on does that mean I have two faults or does teh rear tail light also send teh signal to the front headlight?

Thanks

The system checks the load with all the lights on.

Hi Paul A final question

As the warning if the headlights are not on is just a light broken warning and it changes to a "brake light broken" when the headlights are turned on do you think I should check teh front indicator light 1st (as it goes on when you brake) or just concentrate on the rear tail light

Thanks

Default I would start with the bulbs. It has a double filament bulb. It could send signal back

if installed incorrectly or if it moved in the socket.

Default I had this problem with my BMW. Turns out to be a known problem, the resistance

is off just enough on non BMW bulbs to cause the light to come on. I haven't had to change any Audi bulbs... similar problem?

Worth a look while you're checking.
