Hello new here 2000 A8 just got it out the shop was running hot got aux fan motor, replaced new serpentine belt, new fan clutch and thermostat replaced. they fixed it and does not run hot anymore but now since i got it back it shakes and misfires like crazy went back to my repair guy and he tells me its caused by the manifold intake arms being broken now keep mind, my car has never driven like this before they did the repairs on it does the air intake manifold system have anything to do with my check engine light flashing or did they screw up when they did the thermostat job.

The first thing you need to do is pull the codes and see why the engine light is on. With the tech saying that the arm to the manifold is broken you would have noticed more of a popping sound if it is not operating correctly. As per the misfiring and shaking that can be multiple things. Does it only misfire and shake at idle?

A quick code scan will tell the story...any cheap home scanner will read anything that triggers a CEL.

Definite no... They been broken on my wife's car for a couple of years.
Sounds like they screwed up the cam timing when they swapped the thermostat.
Do you have vag-com? You will see codes stored.

Big 2nd ^^^^ broken arms do NOT cause misfires, take it back and demand they fix it right, sounds like they might not have retimed the engine properly if they changed the thermostat..
