My CEL (check engine light )came on today at the Audi dealer with my service advisor standing next to me,I love to bust his nuts about my A8. I was at the stealer buying the fuel tank repair kit. My question is if the leaking fuel seal caused the CEL, after I fix the seal will the CEL reset itself after a while?

Some of the fault codes will reset them afer the problem is removed and XX amount of starts have occured, but many of those faults do not cause a check engine light.

the "cel" light is there for a reason, and is at the monment, on your car, performing its function. never dismiss it unless you know what it is trying to tell you.
i personally would not drive the car until i have pulled the codes myself, or got a dealer to do so. here in nz we have mobile audi service vehicles which spend most of their time parked up at the dealers with nothing to do. if you are under warranty, that is what they are there for.

knock sensor to flash codes and trigger the CEL. After a few cycles the check engine light will go off.
Oh! Sorry! Wait a minute, wrong forum, I was thinking of my General Motors product.

Hello,
If the problem was caused by a leak in the fuel system, then
fixing the problem, (and waiting a day or so) will result in the
light going off.
Don't believe me? Remove the fuel cap, drive for a while, let
the light come one, replace the fuel cap (two clicks tight) then
drive again. The light will go off. The same scenerio is written
in the owner's manual.
