Just purchased these through EBAY and from what info I have read, I assume that they will fit a '97 A8. Could a wheel expert here tell me that they will fit so I can rest easy?

Wheels will be OK (actually great), but ...
the 255/35-18 RS4 tire is much too small in diameter for an A8; you'll want either 245/45-18 or 255/45-18.
