I have a 1998 Audi A8. The airbag light came on today. I used to have a Vag-com but sold it when I thought I was selling to car.

Will VCDS-Lite and a generic cable clear an airbag light? I do not do a lot of my own work but I would like to be able to clear things like this....

Also could a tire rotation cause the air bag light to go on? Seems like a stretch but got my oil changed today and got my tires rotated got in the car and light popped on. Shop was closed so I could not speak with the mechanic. I assume it was consequential but just asking. LOL

I know that normally it is caused by a short in the wiring.

It might could clear the fault code, temporarily...not sure. But even if it can, it will come right back if the problem (whatever it is) persists.

That's what I do every year before inspection.

Of course I have to dig up my old xp machine with the serial cable connection and boot it up in the garage. Hardest part is remembering the old password.
