Reviews shows that differences between the best studded tires are minor. You will be satisfied with any of these:
- Nokian Hakkapeliitta 5
- Michelin X-Ice North
- Continental ContiWinterViking 2
- Gislaved Nord Frost 5
- Goodyear UltraGrip Extreme
- Vredestein Icetrac

I would get the Nokian or the Michelin, they are the best of the best. They are among the most quiet studded tires, but still outperforms the others when it comes to grip. The Michelin will have a slight edge on dry or wet asphalt, where the Nokian has a slight edge on ice and snow. Still, only minor differences.

I had an older version of the Nokian on my A8 (18" rims), grip was plain awesome. It lasted for a long time as well, didn't loose many studs.

As long as they run over Palin, any tire will work just fine... Did I say that outloud? Ooops... :-)

thank you jim haha, and thanks for the info KjellA.

The opposite side of the road thing has to do with the crazy brits and all the countries and colonies that become part of them. mostly, but there are exceptions. I had heard that they only did it to be different from Germany and France(or was it Spain?) back in the day.
