Probably is myth but my OEM handbook says never disconnect Battery while running
or it will damage electronic components.
I once had a battery explode from me dropping a spanner over the terminals of my old ford 315 consul-Dumb thing to do but at 18 years old and full of cannabis it was not a good look.
When I went inside my girlfriend at the time said I looked like sooty with an Affro -lucky I had the foresight to close my eyes.
Upside was some sympathy luvin from the g/friend.
Lesson learned

Hard to argue with the OEM handbook, but from a practical point of view I have to think
that the battery is seen by the electrical system as just another load.
