Wow. A lot of complaints on the D3 board about clouded window trim.

Aluminum oxidizes. That is it's nature. There are no preventitive measures that will protect forever.
Stainless Steel or Chrome plate would be an option. But the look would be different,
I don't mind the aged look from a distance, but up close it looks tired.
Oh well.

Walking up to the car i was overwhelmed by the newness. The sleek and sexy body lines, the completely redesigned interior. And best of all would be the pop out gps screen. The automatic open/close feature for the trunk lid can entertain one for hours on end as well as all the buttons and gismos inside can. Then the unicorn of seat movement, we have 14 way, they added the last two of the top half of the seat movement. Ultimate comfortability in a seat. BAM! cup holders! Probably of the most envied features missing in the d2, simple cup holders.
-Driving it was a different car for sure. It still seamlessly accelerated, like the d2, it built up speed unnoticeably. The S mode on the transmission was amazing, thoughtless sport driving. The air ride was a glide over the road and still took turns and corners just as good as a regular suspension.
-Things that dont make sense:
First off, I would rather have my D2 than most of the D3's I looked at. Granted I would trade up for a W12. The D2 is a hand built car, that cost less than the D3 and came with more standard features. The D3 is machine built, has fewer standard features, and yet it costs more! That does not make sense. The dual pane glass makes a hell of a difference in cabin quiting. Some nicer features of the d3: the button for activating the rear sun shade is now added to the lights. Also the buttons for lighting are better. The rear window shades are also better constructed, they hide and hang better. The gps is a must have. But the controls for it are awkward and the driver has to look down to operate the controls. I perfer the seat heat **** over the electronic version. the integrated HVAC controls on the gps are nice but they may become a nuisance over time. No rear lumbar support makes the back seat extremely uncomfortable (I was looking at all aspects of the car even though I never ride in the back). I don not remember seeing rear seat heat controls either, not sure about it though.Only a fully loaded D3 can compete with my D2. I now realize what a great car I bought. I never thought about the features it had or how good of a condition it was in and now I only want another d2. It is like an addictive drug or poison.

with the S8 being the ultimate value if you want even more high-end. Abundant safety, luxury and performance for the price of a civic. Unreal.

Remove trim from vehicle
Strip "protective" coating with abrasive paper or chemicles like paint stripper.
Sand out any blemishes with fine (and finer) abrasive paper.
Polish with buff and compound (Better make a holding board to limit the possibility of throwing the flimsy piece across the garage) Ask me how I know;-)
Clean the polished pieces to remove all compound and wax.
Spray clear "protective" coating on trim piece.
Repaeat every three or four years as required.
OR
Spray paint the trim with the paint of your choice ;-))
