Default XM Radio converter for '04 A8L: Availability or rumor???

Recent postings here on this discussion group have indicated that the long awaited XM Radio converter for the '04 A8L is now available at Audi dealerships, and there is even a posting that indicated not only availability, but an installation date.

My "reliable source" is Jim Logan, from Clair Audi parts. He has been dead accurate in the past, here is a copy of the email that he sent me today:

"Thank you for your email. I understand your frustration and that you have been waiting since NOV. According to Audi( I have global inventory access on my laptop).....there are NO XM Sat radios in the country...period. However, there are many Sirius units that are starting to trickle in. Just so we are all on the same page.............the part # that you ordered is : 4e0-057-593-a

The Sirius # that is available is part #: 8e0-057-593-a.

Dig a little deeper into the forums and see if the above part #'s are what people are talking about. Please keep me posted.

Best Regards -

Jim"

Let's clear the air on this rumor- are the converters available or not??

Default drgallo, I just left Rockville Audi and they said....

The "XM" converter is slated for Oct-Nov timeframe now. As first they said that they had it in stock and I told him to check again. After further review he confirmed Oct-Nov timeframe. Does anyone know the main difference between Sirius and XM and which one is better. I always thought XM was best because they've been in business longer. I'm sure I just started a big debate.

Default most people I have talked to with Satelite vote for XM. . . can't recall why

except I seem to recall it had something to do with less commercials.

Default Dr. G, I might be able to swing by my dealer on Saturday and

confirm whether they have the XM unit or not.

I'll have with me the part numbers you've provided and I will attempt to actually lay eys on the thing and confirm that it exists or that I was given bad information.

I might even buy it and attempt the install myself.

I'll post as soon as I have an answer for the forum.

before JIm Ellis purchase...one of those coupons was for a 10% discount on any satellite radio for ANY MODEL valid thru April 30,2004...I have not called for any particulars.
