Yesterday my car Bottomed out at an intersection that I usually go over without a problem in the A4!
There is a dip in the road that I was traveling around 40 and it scraped. Sounded really bad as if something broke, but it looked like everything was still there. Nothing broke!
Do I need new shocks or is it just because of the weight difference?

It's probably the sports susp and weight advantage on the A4.
How many miles on the A8 shocks? Wouldn't worry too much about this unless you feel that the car is "floating" on the road, under acceleration, braking or going through bumps. It should stabilize after only 1 compression and rebound action.
