Yet another tranny service story (long)

Well,
I got my A8 a couple weeks ago, and like several of you, my tranny slips a bit, seems to hunt for the right gear, and had the occasional squeal. Has 112k miles, so I know I need to be diligent with service.
I called a few local shops, and the comment I got was 'no, no....don't need to change the fluid. Lifetime fluid.....it's like liquid gold'. I found a local mechanic who was willing to do it, and follow Paul W's guidelines.
Bought the Audi ATF fluid, got the kit from Wendy. My guy changed the fluid, and said it was dirty, but not that bad. No chia pets, either. He surmised that the previous owner had it done. The change fixed the squealing, but did nothing for the gear hunting.
I remember another AW member that recoded his tranny to 00001 and it helped. We pulled up the code....and it was 00011. Recoded to 00001, and it solved most of the hunting issues, but it certainly isn't as sporty. But I'll take it for now.
The plus side of this is my mechanic is awesome - only charged me $100 for labor, and that was for a few other things as well.
Next - new spark plugs, air filter, maybe timing belt change??
