Hello, I've been trying to do the timing belt on the A8 and cam lock bar will not line up even though lock tool is in crankshaft, it's only off a little but just enough to not lock in. Has anyone else this issue?

Yes. The play in the belt and tensioner combined w/ long belt length. Take bar with the pins pins off one side (cam) and keep it on other side and use it as a lever arm to move that cam pulley just a few degrees. Use bar itself to judge when you have it lined up by eye to the other one and set of pins+holes. Then take it off that side and do the same on the other. Just a little so you don't start to move belt. Eventually you get it to lock in at same time on both sides. Be careful with fingers in this since a free cam can spin suddenly with no warning given valve spring pressure behind it.
Also make sure you aren't 180 degrees cams/360 on crank out of phase. You probably realize, but stating it just in case--the big holes and the small holes that only fit one way..
