I currently have the OEM 19" 12 spoke rims on my A8. These wheels have an offset of 45. Can I put a set of rims on that have an offset of 48 without modification ( spacers)? Thank you

Offset has to be taken into account with rim width. O.P. didn't indicate replacement rim width, and you have to fill in the blank and know what the 19 rim width is too. First reply had it right--search forums, but first know both ET and rim width before working the math further. Obviously as width shrinks, likey won't matter, but most posters are thinking the same or wider. Pushed out into things like 9 1/2 width and edging up to 285's, it becomes a very close balancing act. Archives have the data, including CovertW12's prior exploring the ragged edges here.

As MP4.2+6.0 said, you have to take all of the wheel dimensions into account, you can't just assume that because wheel A fits with X offset, wheel B will also. TireRack has some good articles on this: http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/tech/...jsp?techid=101

You can as your wheels are a 19X8.5 rim.....are you going with a wider rim because it will look bad going with a 48mmm offset on the same size rim. If you go to a 9" wide rim a 46mm offset is factory, but a 35mm offset looks a lot better...wider tire stance. It really depends on the look you want and the rim size you are going to. Let me know and I could help you out with some pics.

Hello, I am mounting OZ Palladio Rims. They are 19x8 not 8.5. They have a +48 offset. My stock 12 spoke rims are 19x8.5 with a +45 offset. The OZ Palladio rims were on a 2007 S8. I don't want the wheels to be too inside the the wheelwells, which is what I think the current setup will look like. So should i use spacers to extend the wheels out toward the fenders? If so, what mm spacers should I use for the front and the rear?

Your new wheels will be 9mm further from the fenders. Why are you doing that at the first place? You have best OEM forged wheels and you are going for the second grade after-market ones that actually do not fit.

They won't look good either way. An 8" wide rim is too narrow it will look funny even if you use spacers, because what tire size are you planning on putting on the 19X8's ? If you have to use them I would at least go with an 12-14mm spacer behind them. Are you going for the mexican low rider look?, because they would probably look like that depending on the tire size.

Nevermind what these guys are saying, they will look fantastic! And once you put them on, sell your old 19" 12 spokes to me.
J/K, it will not look as good for the reasons stated above unless a lowrider look is your intention.
But, as long as they are in good condition, I'm serious about the buying the your old 19's (and possibly the tires too).
