Thanks. In the meantime I've changed mine. First I opened it to try to fix it if it is some loose contact. Not likely to happen. Wires are tinnier then a hair and everything is covered with silicon. So new one from AudiUSA did a job. They had one on stock and I got it next day. Installing would be trivial if the lowest rear bolt is just a bit more accessible. Programming is easy.

By the way, I replaced my floor mates (front) for $19. OEM black carpet. There is a sale on.

Default Part number!!!

[QUOTE=Iron_Mike;24244840]Update:

Alright, the Indy shop said they do not open up the harness and check on the wires. They said the wires would only be damaged if the car was in an accident. If we want to check on the wires we should go to Audi, says the REPAIR SHOP... oh boy

Brought the car to Audi, had the harness / wires checked out and US$300.00 (2 hours) later it turns out the wires are NOT defective... So it is the ABS controller unit.

(A.) Audi dealer estimate for the ABS controller unit part & labor was US$1,434 - which breaks down into:

(1.) US$1,136 for the ABS controller unit (part + tax)
--> the unit is called REPAIR KIT, it replaces the old ABS controller unit
(2.) US$298.00 for labor + programming of the unit

--> comes with 12 months / 12,000 miles warranty

(B.) Called up the Indy shop (who didn't wanna check on the wires) who came highly recommended (I AM DOUBTING THESE SOURCES), their estimate was US$1,333 - which breaks down into:

(1.) US$1,008 for the ABS controller unit (part + tax)
(2.) US$325.00 for labor + programming of the unit (more expensive than Audi !?!)

--> not sure about warranty

==> US$101.00 cheaper than the OEM Audi... not worth it

(C.) My Plan Of Attack

(1.) ordered the ABS controller unit part from Sunset (which also own http://www.audiusaparts.com/). I had the part # from the Audi dealer, I confirmed it through ETKA myself and Loree from Sunset also confirmed it.

Their price for the OEM unit with same 12/12 warranty: US$754.75 (incl. shipping)

by the way mishar, the part you posted is NOT the ABS controller unit. It's a fault on their website and it actually also does not show a part #. Loree looked it up, this is the REPAIR HARNESS (electrical connector with wires) for the ABS module, not the ABS module itself.

(2.) will have the part replaced and programmed by Audi dealer.

==> Total cost: US$1,052.75

Could have tried to have the ABS controller unit repaired by modulemaster.com but didn't wanna waste app. 200 bucks if it didn't work out or problems re-occur.[/QUO

Habing same issue with my a8

I think you were on the right track, the ABS module failed on two of my Audi D3, and one A4 this is extremely common.

I purchased used ones from wrecking yards until I found one that worked and repaired another one, but your approach is probably the most safe and trouble-free

No big deal, just an FYI, Mishar is no longer with us on this earth.
