Default 2006 A8L headlight swap with 2005

Hello, im new to the site, I bought 06 A8L 4.2 but the old owner, cracked open the headlights to put after market crap lights inside, they work when they want to and get condensation inside after every car wash. Was told just to replace light assy's with a new pair. Ive found a very nice pair of 2005 A8 light assy's for a good price, my lights are adaptive lights and the 05 pair are NOT. Can I use these lights if I buy them to get back to a stock light setup? Will my car recognize the 05 lights. Plus i believe im going to have an extra plug from the adaptive bulb? Thank you for any help you can give, kevin.

If your in the USA, the lights for the 04-05 have the split grill front end so they are physically different than 06+ lights. Those lights would not fit your car.

i made this mistake buying sight unseen...you must ensure the two wire harness connectors align. My 2006 with adaptive did not align with the 2005, so i wasted my money. If you want to peruse this, you need a clear picture of the female connector on the donor car and a clear look at your male wire plug.

i still have the 2005 lights and may sell them down the road. To be clear, get the seller to send a pic of the female connector on the headlight. Then, look at your male wiring harness on your car. They should align.

They will not fit...irregardless of the plugs. The face lift lights are geometrically different than the 04-05 double grille lights because the body of a face lift car has...a different face.
