Brozee,
Small world then. I heard of Steve's automotive in Waterford but never took my car there. I wish I had the Vag-com. Been trying to buy one for myself. Thanks for letting me know. I will see what price they can do the bushing replacements for me.

It's not a terrible job, except the bolts that hold the ball joints into the bearing housing. Do yourself a favor and order up new bolts and nuts. I got mine from worldimpex.com. Bushings I ordered from rock auto, and they were about $50 including shipping. I already have a press, so the pressing was almost the easiest part of the job.
The two bolts mentioned are steel going through aluminum, and galvanic action seizes them into place VERY well. I broke the head off of mine, then used the nut side with washers to pull the bolts through. Worked ok, but took a while. There's a YouTube video on the job for an older model A6, and it's almost identical. They have the technician using an air hammer to push the bolt out, but on the newer cars, the arrangement is just different enough to make that not work so well.
Plan on a DIY job of about a day - mostly because of those two bolts, and beer breaks
. The rest is easy, and if the bolts come out nice, it would be a two or three hour job.

Hi Brozee,
I'm a new owner of a 2007 Audi A8. I live in Beverly Hills, MI. Have you had any experiences with European Auto in Birmingham? My car is out of warranty and I hesitate to take to dealer. My car has 60K on it.
Thanks,
CJ

I just paid $180 for labor to install the bushings. It would have been $60 cheaper, but those bolts were seized and they had to cut them. Is alignment absolutely needed now? On my a4 it was super hard to get tie rods loose, I am afraid it would be the same thing for the A8

I did mine after replacing bushings, but I would do it anyways. On the other hand Bentley says no need for alignment after changing upper arms. So it's your call.
