2008 A8 Delivery Update. I just received notification from my dealer that my 2008 ordered 7/2 is
built (he gave me the VIN #) and is expected in New Jersey the week of Oct. 8. Just an FYI for all of you who have ordered or are waiting to see some merchandise in person.

Just checked, and my car's on the same schedule (Oct - week #2) --- However...
...I've been warned that AoA might hold these cars at the port, depending on remaining '07 dealer inventories, etc.

As a local 2007 data point...
in the heart of Silicon Valley. Some dealers show their new car inventory if you search on line carefully. When I checked about a week ago, Stevens Creek Audi was sitting on two 2007 S8's and Carlsen on one. I won't even bother w/ the A8's. My impression is the S8 moved better last year than A8's (long or short), so I have a hunch they have a fair number of 2007's floating around. But I think they are squeezed on margins and wringing hands on incentives to move them. Just WAG'ing threading together a few data points.
Back to the point of the post I'm replying to, I'm guessing they want the general word to be there are no 2008's out. Pre sold or not, if they get out there on the street, the gig is clearly up on 2007's.

That may be an extreme example, but there's probably more inventory than they'd like...
...considering how '07 A8 sales fell off vs. last year. I know my dealer got lucky, and shaved 3 cars off their 4-car '07 A8 inventory in the past month.
