Interesting press release from Audi today giving all the details/changes for every 2008 model with the exception of the A8/A8L since production starts later this year. I ordered mine over 3 weeks ago when the Order Guide finally came out and it's still not in the production schedule. Anyone else order a 2008 and have a real production commitment from Audi and/or forecast delivery date?

Oct., but I'm sure that's dealer BS. I'm very worried based on this press release that we won't see our cars until December.

My dealer cannot get any commitment from Audi regarding the timing to even get the order in their production schedule. Also, there is still no invoice pricing available for the '08 models yet.
I think your guess of delivery in the late 4Q is probably accurate. The question is "Why?" This platform is well-established so the only conclusion to be drawn is that there is a supplier-related problem causing the startup delay. Even so, this is VERY unusual for a company's "flagship" model.

He said my car is in the production queue and is one of the first 4, and that even though production is starting in Sept. they have been told that the first cars ordered (early like ours) are expected to be delivered in October...who knows when in October however.

on the 2008 A8 because they perceived there to be too many around in inventory and many more coming back from leases and that Audi Finance wanted to try to get that glut cleaned up before they put out the '08's in order to create some pent up demand. FWIW.

...the requested production week (9/03/07 --- week #36). I'll check w/my dealer to see if they have an assigned production week.
Was given a delivery window of between mid-October and sometime in November. You never really know; the last time around, my '06 A8 arrived a month ahead of schedule--but that was a function of an early 2006 production start.
I would imagine that we're looking at early October for the first A8 allocation to arrive and clear the East Coast POE's.

thus it's causing production decision delays, etc.,...........ya right! lol! Although I've been on this band wagon for many moons now, every model has them but the A8 and I'm not talking about the "sports package".
