Default 2010 A8L key not identified

During a thunderstorm this morning my anti theft system went off and didn't realize it for several hours. Now key fob doesn't work and key isn't identified when trying to start. Suggestions?

Replace key fob battery. Recharge (or replace?) car battery. Be sure to be inserting key into ignition to try to start (not relying on keyless). Then re assess.

Presumably you can unlock the car with your remote? The Smartkey's battery has nothing to do with starting with the key in the ignition. Do you have your emergency key? Did water intrude into the interior - immo module is on driver's side floor and famously gets wet?

Mine occasionally had similar issue.

sometimes keyless not work as " no key detect "but insert into keyhole always can start.

No water intrusion. Can't unlock door except with key. Car will not crank with key in ignition. It's crazy. I parked it and everything was ok. A thunderstorm came thru right on top of us and the alarm went off. Now it won't do anything.

Sounds like an antitheft thing. Or the kessy is toast. Did you check for water both in the front and back by pressing hard into the carpet with your hands for signs of damp and in my the battery/spare tire? Also, check fuses if you haven't, just to be sure.

Disconnect the battery ground cable, wait 20 mins or so. Reconnect. Lock and unlock the car. Then try to start

Please report on prior actions you have taken from preceding responses. I provided ideas; so have others. You are now just reposting same thing. If you are looking for the magic, sure fire, special trick known only to the exalted, it ain't gonna happen here in plain English. Part of a forum is closing the loop on what either works or doesn't fix wise.

The thunderstorm and alarm going off may mean you are dealing with something as simple as a battery drain. And on a 2010 if it is the original battery, it could well be pretty much toast. D3's do flaky things electrically when battery gets low. The battery disconnect idea another provided is a variant of the same kinds of diagnostics/checks.

I haven't tried anything yet. Just looking for suggestions. But the is no water. I do believe it is an anti theft issue though.
