Default 55k Dealer Service Pricing

Hi - My 04 is about due for the 55k service and I'm wondering what people have found in terms of pricing from their local dealers. We have two that are about equidistant but the price is $200 different between them. Both are doing the audi recommended service obviously. Just wondering if others have found a wide variance in pricing dealer to dealer.

Thanks.

I dont remember the cost I was quoted for this service and I only let the dealer do the spark plugs. I did the oil and filter, air filter and cabin filter myself. I was charged 200 from Willow Grove Audi in Pa just for the labor(I provided the spark plugs). I once heard that the sunroof drains get check or cleaned at this service.

Dont know what part of Jersey you in. I brought my car from Riverside Audi and it have been serviced there, Princeton Audi and Willow Grove Audi. If I "had" to trust one, it probably be Willow Grove(Wasnt to happy after 2 visits to Princton Audi).0

My car is in at an indy shop right now getting the 55k done (late at 86k) and I was a bit surprised at their quoted price.

What are dealers charging for this service?

@Mike - Thanks for the dealer recommendation. I have only taken it to Bell in Edison, but have not been super happy with them (tried to tell me I needed a $1200 climate head unit, when it was really just a setting in the hidden menu to go from right hand drive controls to left hand drive). Did not give me a warm fuzzy feeling about their knowledge.

The two quotes I have are $851 and $641 including tax. Obviously I'm leaning toward the $641 service.

@Crizz - What is the indy shop charging?

lol its a DIY..... Plugs aren't that difficult, and the filter changes are a piece of cake. At the least do the filters yourself both can be found for under $70 total. Plugs go buy em and have a friend or yourself install them. Again, Under $70 using a coupon code at advance auto parts for NGK oem plugs. Oil change $125...?

So your looking at around $300. I've done my own 55k service twice. It's very easy.

I agree. Ive done anything from a 55k service on my last 4.2 A6 to the timing belt service on my 2.7 A6, valve cover gaskets, brake jobs, intake gasket on GM crap, etc in the garage so Im no stranger to DIY. I chose to not tackle the timing belt on the A8 for a multitude of reasons and asked my indy to complete the 55k at the same time. The job didnt go too smoothly for him and it took quite a bit of extra time so I didnt feel right beating him up on the bill over the pricy 55k job.

Im just glad I wasnt doing the job myself this time.

Only thing worse than a D3 timing belt is the steering rack on a '87 5000CSQ as well as the clutch. That is a big a$$ manual tranny with three output shafts that has to come out.
