A8 Bluetooth Retrofit OEM
I am sure this has been discussed before but I am going to ask again. I am interested in doing the OEM factory Bluetooth upgrade for my car and would like to know the part numbers needed to do this. I have seen a large amount of part numbers for which I have not been able to find the exact ones.
I have a 2005 A8 with NAV, Onstar, XM, and 6 Disk Changer. I have gathered that I need the following:
1) Bluetooth Factory Module
2) Retrofit Wiring Harness
3) Bluetooth Antenna
4) Fiber Optic coupling (part of wiring harness?)
5) New Microphone?
Also what software is needed and how do I procure it? Do I need VAG-COM to enable the unit, or can I utilize a CD to load the software?

I have done this. Here is what you need...
Yes, it is possible to do this conversion from Onstar to factory Bluetooth. Did it on my 05 a few months ago and it works perfect exactly just like the factory BT.
Here is what you need:
1) BT Audi Module
2) BT Antenna (that plugs into Module
3) Optical wiring harness to connect to MOST
4) Wiring conversion pinouts from Onstar 42 pin to 54 pin connector
5) VCDS (Vag-Com) to remove "telematics" and add "telephone"
Let me know where you are at with the conversion. I can provide more info.

Do you by chance know the Vag-Com Codes that need to be changed?

I also have an early 05 A8. What is the best and least expensive way to get these parts (I am guessing the dealer is the only source)? Do you have OEM part numbers?

I to have the on star and want to convert to blue tooth on my 2004.I have all the part numbers and wiring diagram but not sure if they are correct. The optical connection to the MOST is what confuses me.Is it a harness or a modification. The codes on the VAG I hope are straight forward but would really appreciate a more detail explaination on what needs to be done by someone who had success. Please help Thanks to audi canada for not helping us out with a proper retro fit kit

We install the Mobridge BT/ipod $1000.00 (US) including install. The local Audi Dealer programs the Car for $50.00. all connections are with the MOST Ring behind the cd changer. Once Audi Activates the BT in the MMI the Voice rec. on the phone button becomes BT. It looks and functions just like the audi system. you don't even have to mess with any of the onstar wiring.

I have seen the Mobridge BT/ipod on ebay for $800 and wondered how it compares to replacing the Audi OEM parts. Where do you install all the Mobridge components? Also - with the Mobridge BT/ipod setup, do you end up with an Aux-In jack so you can connect an external MP3 player?
Thx for all the info...

Not familiar with Denison. I think Kufatec offers a good option as far as being as close as possible to factory-like, but it is expensive. There is a place called www.bbctechnik.com that does installs of the Kufatec solution, you can go to their web site and see what it looks like. If you need someone to install it, try looking for a Kufatec distributor in Canada. I think the mobridge solution is more of an add-on solution, but probably works fine. i would check out mobridge-usa.com, maybe they have a list of Canadian installers?
