A8? CLS? XJ?

I'm new to this A8 forum, although I already have 3 Audis. I'm considering the purchase of an '06 A8 and wondering if I'm going to regret the decision due to the fact that I haven't found a good local (MD/DC suburbs) Audi dealer to do warranty work. My dealer's work on my TTs was awful. Fortunately, my A4 hasn't needed anything. My alternatives to the '06 A8 are an '06 or '07 Mercedes CLS550 (lighter, more powerful than A8, uninspired interior, and I've had reasonably decent service in the past with my local MB dealer) and an '06 Jaguar XJ Super V8 (light, very powerful, adequate Jag dealer within walking distance of my house.) Should I expect that a CPO '06 A8 will be spending a lot of time in the shop for warranty repairs? (FWIW, the car will only be driven less than 5K miles per year.) Thanks for opinions.

I have taken 3 Audis to Rockville Porsche Audi and have received excellent service over the 18 years that I have been dealing with them. My current Audi is a 2005 A8L. My 2005 A8L really hasn't seen the shop that much. I have also taken two Mercedes to Euro Motors over the years with excellent results. I received excellent service from Manhattan Jaguar when I owned an XJ6. Bottom line for me has been that they have all provided good service. You should be quite pleased with purchasing an A8.

......the A8 will need to see the shop on occasion. But once it's out of warranty, you can definitely find a better/cheaper independent mechanic locally.
The CLS550 is a great looking car, with very little room inside. Big difference from the A8L!! Smooth, swift, but I agree about uninspired interior, not to mention lesser quality materials.
The Jag is a wildcard. You get a great one or you get a dog. I had a 2005 XJR recently, and it ran like a clock and was a lot of fun to drive.....until winter came. Even with winter tires on it, it was a handful.
That's why it's so hard to beat Audi, even with less than stellar reliability.
