Default A8 Options- NEED OPINIONS- A8

I have a 2004 Audi A8L. Aside from a few electrical issues such as the passenger seat motor and my head unit display not working effectively anymore; I have had no complaints about my A8 in the aspect of engine performance.

I have reached about 100,000 miles on my 2004. I am now faced with torn front driver and passenger seats due to the ventilation holes in the leather, a trip to the ocean and sitting on the seat with any sort of moisture then was heated up and eventually cracked the leather. This was appraised to have replaced the front two seats for approximately $2,700. Also, the tire pressure sensors as well as the gas level sensors have malfunctioned and are practically useless.

Overall the car is in decent condition. I need opinions on what the best route to satisfy aesthetic aspects of the car such as a the torn seats, and halfway deployed head unit.

As much as I don't want to sell the car or trade it in, it seems to be valued locally at anywhere from 9k-13k, in which case I'm not sure how viable it would be to spend close to $3,000 on the front seat's leather replacement.

Are there any major issues that anyone has encountered at about 100,000 miles on the A8?

To restore the car:
$500 passenger seat motor repair
$1,000 head unit motor repair
$2,700 front passenger and driver seat replacement
$2,000 brake pads and rotors

The total just including these 4 repairs would be over $5,000.

Will the reliability of the A8 be worth making these repairs at 100,000 miles considering it's local value?

Any opinions would be appreciated.

Default Three quick reactions:

1. Seats--I would definitely be checking the wrecking yards for a decent pair of seats instead. Hopefully a full match by color, etc,

2. Brakes--sounds like dealer sort of pricing. A decent indy shop who handles Audis should be able to do for much less with quality parts. Only tricky part is having the VAG COM type software to release the rear parking brake motor. Fronts are very easy.

3. TPMS system can either be turned off via VAG COM, or the sensors replaced. Some on the board have had success using cheaper aftermarket ones.

Others on board can chime in about the MMI screen repair issues.

Bigger picture, if mechanically fine, I would tend to keep it going, but look for ways to use other decent parts to reduce costs. Also, you should factor in a timing belt maintenance replacement at your miles if not already done. Enough $ that it should be part of your math if applicable.

Welcome!

What color are your seats? Recently somebody offered for sale set of amaretto seats.

Head unit motor repair $60 + some not that difficult labor.

Seat motor should be checked or it would come with seats.

Brakes $650 OEM parts + 2-3 hours labor preferably not a dealer.

TPMS sensors 5 * ($35 + $15) = $250

And you can enjoy her for another 100K miles.

I just can imagine a smile on the face of the dealership service adviser, when a customer like this walks in.
When I was at the dealer doing some kind of recall, I personally saw a woman paying $800 something for a new headlight for her 9 year old Audi A4. I wonder if she even thought of putting a new bulb in there first.
The same dealership also tried to convince me changing ECM for over a $1k, when I had just a bad ignition coil. Even though I was an Audi noob back then, I am glad I did not fall for that crap lol
