Default Adaptive Lighting and Xenon Range Error

I have a problem with headlight range system and adaptive lighting on my 2004 A8L. I read other similar posts, but my symptoms seem to be a bit different, and I can't find any conclusive fix for the problem on the forum. In the meantime I have removed the 10amp fuse #4 as others suggested, and that has eliminated the dashboard error and the display is back to normal. I would still like to address the problem, but I'm not sure what the actual problem part is, given the error codes.

I read in the Bently program that there are two TSBs related to this problem, but I am new to Audi, and I'm not sure how to interpret the TSB (including how to reference the TSB number). I think it is called 94 09 16 from June 17th, 2009. The other is 94-08-20 from Nov 6th, 2008. The former seems to reference the part number 4E0 907 357, which VAG calls "HW", I assume meaning hardware? The TSB acually says 4F0 907 357 as the part number. I think it might be a typo. If this is the problem, the TSB indicates that it cannot be updated, and must be replaced.

I am not covered by a warranty. I wouldn't think Audi will still do anything for this, right?

Where should I start without just replacing everything? Any experience is greatly appreciated.

Is that scan with the breaker in place or without it?

That is the scan with the fuse in place. With the fuse removed you get about 12-15 error blocks. So, it looks like the problem might be in the level controller? I also nticed that the wiring in the headlights is deteriorating. Is this a common problem, and is there a fix other than replacing the headlight assembly?

Default Fixed it?

Hey buddy, not sure if this is of any use, but one of the guys just told me how to recode the 55-address controller (xenons). Not sure if you've tried that, but I had to do it after I replaced low beam bulbs. Check my posts towards the end of 'D3 headlight exploded diagram' thread, one of the guys there (sorry, can't remember his user name, but on here a lot) gives a method for recoding under VagCom that, combined with clearing DTC's, removed my dashboard error message.

Good luck,

K9
