my dealer here in ohio told me it was not possible to order the glass and have them do the install on my 05 A8L. I posted the same question not too long ago, and got no answer. I'd love the security glass. Friend of a friend had a smash and grab ?carjack attempt while in his car (not A8). very frightening.

For some reason, the light colored Audi leather is much, much easier to keep clean than BMW leather. It also wears much better. By the end of year one on a 740, the leather on my lower cushion was cracking and the dye was wearing off, so much so that BMW replaced it under warranty. Same thing happened in year two. In marked contrast, there is virtually no wear on the driver's seat of my A8 after one year. I love this car.

...choices. In the end, it brought us back to going with a light interior instead of black w/black---So, a belated thank you :-)

well to be honest, I'm not sure it was a real quote - basically the parts guy thought it was a horrible idea, and had never heard of it being done, and was just postulating about replacing all of the motors and stuff, along with all the glass.
His rough guess, which has no real basis, and was without even checking whether it could be done at all, was 3k for parts and 2k for labor.
And now I am ordering one with dual paned anyway, so its a moot point...

I have dual-pane glass on my 2005 A8L and it is definitely worth it. Audi's are not all that loud to begin with but when I ordered my car I test drove an A8L with and without dual pane. It makes enough of a difference to be worth it. It is also blunt object resistant and bum proof!

Colleagues both have '05 A8s. Both have dual-pane glass (and alcantara, along with other options) and I've seen others around South FL. Don't think it's rare at all.
Amazing that even with dual-pane glass it's no where near as quiet as garden variety Lexus.

I have single pane glass on my 97, I don't think I've seen another D2 A8 with single pane glass, they all have dual pane glass.
