it's progress through the build. Is there some number assigned that makes this thing official and some way for the dealer to check the status (if so, what are the status points)?
Can't wait . . . Thanks.

I anticipated how I was going to afford the insurance on the car.
My insurance costs more than some car payments I had. Fortunately, I don't make payments on the car itself. As the Ferrari saleman said in Scent of a woman: "Sir, this isn't an installment item".

ordered cars. Two years ago I was able to track the status of my BMW order through their website and also could track the status of the ship it was on through another website. That car took 10 weeks from my order to delivery. My 08 Audi took about 11 weeks. Ordered it third week of August and took delivery October 31. Of course, there was the business of AoA putting a hold on 2008 A8's for a while last fall apparently due to too many unsold 2007 A8's on dealers' lots, so you may get in faster than 10 weeks. I still do not have a brochure for my car. Not sure why Audi does not have a system for order tracking similar to BMW, but find their corporate approach less consumer friendly than that of BMW.

Order is placed, Order bank. Order is pulled and the car is assigned a VIN, production stock. In transit from the factory. Port stock. In transit inland. Dealer stock. Hope that helps!!

Released to manufacturing: Jan 4
ETA shipped from Germany: Mar 2
ETA arrive in US: Mar 17
ETA released to carrier: Mar 21
So I guess I'm looking at around April 1 before I see this baby.
