Is alignment check part of maintance plans?
How come after thousands of miles and after replacing the tires since the rear tires where wearing out faster than the front that the dealership is now telling me its an alignment problem in the back. God, come on, I payed 1,000 dollars about 1 1/2 year ago because of the rear tires wearing out and they should of got the alignment checked out and notified me. They also failed to notify me of the back alignment at my 65 and 85,000 miles maintenance when I payed out 1,500 dollars more! I began to notice the rear tires wearing out to bare again while the fronts where fine. I got this car as a certified preown at 40,000 miles and I had a new 2006 Audi A8L before this one and had no problem. SO I took this car back yesterday and they looked at the back tires and say hmm you might have a camber problem and we will need to do an alignment. I am at disblief that they could not have at least inspect it when I payed 1500 dollars at my recent service or at my last tire replacement about 1 year ago?

QUestion is:
Isn't the alignment supposed to be checked at certain maintence intervals??? I mean you pay hundreds to thousands of dollars and at least they should check the toe, camber, etc of all 4 wheels. Anyone?

Examples:
1. My wife's 2005 GMC Envoy (purchased new) has 86,000 miles and I just bought her the first set of replacement tires. At the tire store I was asked: would you like an alignment check for only $19.95 since your buying new tires? My reply was no thanks, it still tracks perfectly and the old tires wore evenly.
2. My 2004 A8L (purchased used in late 2005 with 56k miles) has 107,000 miles and still tracks perfectly. The Tires, which I purchased two sets of the day I bought it, are wearing evenly. I've never had an alignment performed on it.
You could have the car realigned and that day slam into a curb or hit a chuckhole in the road at hight speeds and knock it way out of alignment. You would be responsible for realignment fees as well as possible parts requiring replacement. That's why it's not covered by any car warranty or *free* maintenance plan. I guess maybe if, on the day you pick up a new car, if the cars tracks to one side, maybe the dealer will check the alignment.

True,
What irks me the most is that the dealership should of told me the alignment was out when I got 2 new tires for my rears last Spring so that I did not have to go through the same problem. I am upset that they are lying to me now since I payed alot of money and I do recall having them check alignment with the rear tires. I will grab my old bill and go right to them tomorrow.
