Default AMI not showing up

I didn't need to do this but in the CAN Gateway module, you need to go into installed components or something along those lines and check media player 2.

As far as S/W version, UK/Euro software has different numbering so check Tyresmoke for what you need at minimum.

Finally, if your are coded correctly and your S/W is sufficient, the only other idea I have is that your CAN bus splitter is not wire on the second split end for media player 2. One of the wires is supposed to go to a different pin (search my posts, I posted the exact pin somewhere). Mine wasn't wired right at first and it still worked but maybe it wouldn't in UK/Euro systems.
I think the most likely candidate is the MMI s/w is not at a high enough level. In North America it must be at least 33.60, or the AMI just won't show up in the source menu, which sounds like what you (Edd W) are experiencing. I have no idea what the equivalent Euro version is. AMI wasn't available (in the US) until mid-MY2007, so if the MMI on your 2006 car has never been upgraded, then you probably need to have it upgraded. Out of curiosity, what version of MMI s/w is your car running?

that looks like a pretty old version. The Euro software is up to 55.7.0 IIRC.

I would guess it is the reason the AMI is not working.

AMI became standard in 2008 so all 2008+ US D3's should have it. It is located in the glove box next to the CD changer. Should say "Audi Music Interface" on the flap covering the accessory cable port.
