Because my MMI screen was totally dead, I bought a used 5F radio control unit for my 2015 Audi Q5. I had the dealer code it but after it booted up, the very first display screen says Audi A5 (not Q5). The part number I installed was the correct unit for the Q5. Is there some "re=programming" that needs to be done to get it to display the correct Q5 model on the first screen. Also, my backup camera on the car is not recognized by the MMI. Is this the same re-programm needed issue? If it does need programming, where do I get it done. Audi suggesteed they might be able to hook it up to a laptop and "find something" to fix it but it does not sound like they know what they are talking about.

I think you could change it if you could get a copy of the firmware file and extract it and find the right image file... I messed with it a while ago, and forget the exact process; however I know it can be done. sorry for the unhelpful reply lol.

Hammer2121,
you're not really in the right forum for help with a Q5, which uses a different MMI system than the A8 D3 that this forum covers. [These A8s use MMI 2G controlled by a Unit 17 "Control Head" and Q5s use MMI 3G controlled bya Unit 5F "Information Electronics"unit.

However, like all VAG units, the 5F in a Q5 is typically configured for different options using a concept known as Long Coding. To see and change these units really requires a dealer tool or access to the VCDS disgnostics tool. For your info, here is the VCDS 'knowledge' of a UK Q5's 5F unit that my friend has.

Code:
Address 5F: Information Electr. (J794) Labels:. 4E0-035-6xx-5F.clb
Part No SW: 8T2 035 666 F HW: 8T2 035 666 E
Component: H-BN-EU H49 0107
Revision: -------- Serial number: 475G20A7554628
Coding: 01010106000581ED01000B1E000000030001
Shop #: WSC 06335 000 00000
VCID: 3E25389BC072D6AB95E-806A

Subsystem 1 - Part No: 8R0 060 884 R
Component: EUR 2010 1107

Subsystem 2 - Part No SW: 8F0 919 604 HW: 8F0 919 604
Component: DU7 High H42 0094
Serial number: 9466GZ0A0037287

Subsystem 3 - Part No SW: 8T0 919 609 F HW: 8T0 919 609 F
Component: E0380 Bedient H08 0100
Serial number: 00000000582098

Subsystem 4 - Part No: 8R0 060 961
Component: CD-Database 1886

No fault code found.
The 5F's physical part number is shown as "Part No SW: 8T2 035 666 F HW: 8T2 035 666 E" [The SW number id the poart number of the firmware].

You'll also see the line "Coding: 01010106000581ED01000B1E000000030001" which indicates the configuration of that car's unit.
Unfortunately, the only way to see what the options are and change any settings to match your requirements is to connect a VCDS system to your car
