Anyone had problems with the door auto-latch mechanism failing?

Seems like a huge coincidence but the car was returned from the 5k service with the mechanism failed on the drivers door. The diagnosis is that the mechanism just goes bad and a new one is ordered. The car was fine yesterday morning and it failed during the service. Is it possible that they fried something or that it can be reset?

..If you have a service contact, the first thing is to "swap it out". What actually happened and why are irrelevant (and the tech is probably incapable of making that determination). Order a new twenty-three gazillion dollar semi-rigid fratzibomble because a twenty-five-cent connector has a corroded terminal!

thats funny, my 06 A8 did the exact same thing about 4 weeks into its life...had it replace in 3 hours and works fine after.
How's the S8 stacking up so far? seems like you have 2 issuses so far, B&O problem and this door lock?

to address it.
The door lock was a complete suprise to bothe me and the dealer as it was fine when I dropped it off in the morning.
Otherwise, the car is a delight, flawless in all other respects and the engine just gets better as it frees up.
The replacement B&O amp (the service tech admitted that Audi had told him there had been several problems) has me astounded. The sound is so much better it was obviously not right from the start.
The third problem is the TPMS sensors caused by either the local tire shop or by Audi selling me an incorrect part. More on that when I resolved the issue.
