Default Anyone run a 255/35/20 instead of a 265/35?

The 265 is not in stock until June, but Im a bit worried if I need to replace one in the future they might not have it. the 255/35/20 is available in a continental all season. any recommendations?

Thanks,
Brandon

The 265 is out of stock from where? What brand etc? I can guarantee not all 265's are out of stock. And if you needed to ever replace it you could just go with your spare couldn't you? Too many what if's sir. but I don't see why you wouldn't be able to run the 255, although you should just use your spare instead.

Default 265 conti dws seem to be out until june

these are the only all seasons that will fit the S8. I dont want to run my winter set through a good part of june. I would have to get summer tires, which only last about 15k or go with the 255/35/20s in all seasons

tires aren't car specific, and I'm running a set of 255s went from 275/35/20.

A 275-35-20 is perfect for the s8 265 is an odd ball size and expensive they only used them on some of the S8, but then went to the 275-35-20 on the rest. I run the Hankooks(275's) and they are awesome. If you have an S8 you should have a 20X9" rim which should have a 275-35-20 mounted to it check the specs. The 255 would be a little stretched, but I have seen it done. The tire height of the 275-35-20 is 27.6" and is the correct height for the odometer. Get the Hankooks and you will not regrit it especially since you can get them for $150-190 each, htey handle great, look great and wear great.

Default Don't know why you would do really this...

given car has 9" wide wheels. The original 265's (at least in Yoko's as I recall) actually have the tread width of the 275's--only the sidewall was apparently shorter. Thus going to a 255 is likely most of an inch in tread width reduction most likely in many fitments. That is meaningful for things like braking. Lot's of 275 choices available as well, and as I recall Audi mentioned they were going fit 275's on some of the later S8's anyway. As mentioned in an earlier reply, 275's also clean up more of the speedo error, plus of course they fill out the wheel well a bit more.

Yeah you should go with the 275s...

FYI I just got a set ordered through Discount Tire on March 15th and got them installed on the 26th took a week to arrive even though they showed as Backordered.

Default Dealer wont install 275s. Also he said the BF Goodrich is good.

I hear the BFs are noisy. I would like to try the hankook 275s, but they wont install a larger size.

Because they are not allowed to think. Go somewhere else and go for Continental's. It's cheaper too.
